    Remember These?
. Back when I was in grade school, mid 1960's, we would get a quarter from our mom, take it to school on Wednesday and get one of these bright "United States Saving Stamps" which we would bring home and paste into the album.   When the album was full(.75) we would take it to the post office or bank and get a .00 US Savings Bond which would mature in 10 years!!! We could also buy the stamps at the US Post Office if we hadn't filled in our album by the end of the school year!  Each year, we would have another Bond as part of our savings. I seem to remember cashing in my bonds around the time I went to college. This was a great way to teach SAVING to children as well as having them invest in their country.  I was so sorry this program, as well as the .00, Series E US Savings Bond was discontinued.  This one must have gotten misplaced in my mother's desk drawer and we didn't get a chance to purchase the stamps to fill up the album before the program was discontinued.  So know it is just historical memorabilia for Stamps, Savings Bonds, and investing.
